You can make money from home and lots of it, with online computer jobs, but there are still some scams out there.  They are not much different from the old stuffing envelopes and craft assembly jobs that required you to pay a fee to get started.  Here’s how to tell the difference between the real money-makers and the scammers.

Too Good To Be True

The old adage that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, still applies today.  When companies offer high, quick returns on your investment, there is something that they are not telling you.  Get the details and learn to read between the lines.  Don’t get caught up in Ponzi or Pyramid schemes or you will eventually lose your money.

No Work Required

There are companies that promise you can make money from home, without any effort.  Online computer jobs that are real money-makers require an investment of your time and usually some of your own money. There are no quick, effortless ways to earn a living.  Some work will always be required.

Chain Letters, Lotteries and E-mails

Like their snail-mail counterparts, these e-mails are a way to help you lose, not make money from home.  If you get a forward or an e-mail from someone that you don’t know, the best choice is to delete it.  Over the last year, I have received dozens of these e-mails.

Some said they were bankers who wanted me to “help” them by claiming to be related to someone that had died without a will.  Others said that my e-mail address was picked as the winner of a sweepstakes that I never entered.  Never give your personal information to anyone, unless you are sure that you are dealing with a legitimate and trusted website.

Money-making Online Computer Jobs

Any talent that you have can be turned into cash.  If you write, you can make money from a blog.  If you have site-building software, you can sign up for affiliate programs and build sales pages.  If you take pictures, you can sell them on stock photo sites.

You can sell stuff on eBay, earn referral fees for helping other people find online computer jobs, write research papers, advertise and sell other people’s products.  The amount of money and time that you need to invest varies, but there is always some investment required.  Just be sure to get the details and try to find something that you are really interested in doing.

To make money from home requires some self-motivation.  So, you also need something that makes you want to get out of bed in the morning and go to work, even if it’s only over to your computer desk.
